The Great Sacramento clean-up event!
Saturday, April 24th 2021

About: Join hundreds of Sacramentans in celebration of our planet Earth for a city-wide garbage cleanup event! Bring your friends and family for a safe, socially-distanced, and accessible activity to beautify and enjoy Sacramento's luscious waterways. Tools and PPE will be provided by March for Science Sacramento and The City of Sacramento. Specific 2-hour timeslots and locations are available! Masks are required.

Location Details: There are approximately 10 miles of levee area that will benefit from this project. Volunteers and groups have the option to choose from several starting points along the Sacramento River, Morrison Creek as well as one project at the McKinley Rose Garden.
Morrison Creek is an important tributary of the Sacramento River and part of the Sacramento flood control system. At one time, it was also a fish migration route. By restoring some of the natural habitat, the project sets the stage for the possibility of native fish to return to Morrison Creek and reestablishes fish passage to the Sacramento River.

SacRT has partnered with the City of Sacramento for free rides on bus and light rail on Saturday, April 24, 2021 for Earth Day event participants. To ride free, simply print or screen shot the free ride flyer. Present the flyer to the SacRT bus operator when boarding or SacRT fare inspection staff upon request on light rail. Only one flyer is needed per group. Ride Free

To view starting locations click "take me to volunteer opportunities associated with this event". Parking is limited at location sites! We encourage carpooling with family members from the same household.

For groups interested in more accessible sites, we recommend signing up for either the Matsui Park or Miller Park Marina project.

Volunteers who participate in this event will recieve a free t-shirt donated by CreekWeek from their 2020 event that was unfortunately canceled due to covid-19.
