Farm Volunteer Days!
Lettuce Grow Together! Farm Volunteer Days at Food Literacy Center
Interested in gardening, farming, or spending time outdoors? Join our Farm Volunteer Days on Wednesdays from 9:00–11:00 a.m. No experience is needed, just a willingness to learn and get your hands dirty! Volunteers must be 14+ to volunteer without a parent but a parent signature is required on the waiver form.
Volunteers will work alongside our Farm Team to help maintain our one-acre student farm and prepare it for upcoming classes and events. Activities may include planting, harvesting, weeding, mulching, composting, watering, and other seasonal farm projects. Every volunteer day is a little different, making it a great opportunity to learn about gardening while supporting food literacy education for local youth.
What we'll provide:
- Tools and gloves
- Sunscreen and bug spray
- Water fountains and restrooms
- Shaded areas for breaks
What to bring:
- A reusable water bottle
- Snacks if desired
- Your enthusiasm for helping on the farm!
Attire:
- Closed-toe shoes are required
- Wear comfortable clothes you don't mind getting dirty
- We recommend a hat and sun protection
Please only sign up for days you know you'll be available. Our farmer plans activities and prepares materials based on volunteer registrations. While the volunteer shift is scheduled from 9:00–11:00 a.m., we understand schedules can be busy, and you do not need to stay for the full two hours. We simply ask that you note your expected arrival and departure times when signing up so we can plan accordingly.
Please remember to stay hydrated and take breaks as needed.
