MLK Weekend Event: Rain Barrels for your Garden

Rain barrels are a great way to capture the run off of water during the rainy season and use it later for gardening and other tasks when it’s hot and dry outside.  Reduce your water bill and help save the planet too.  Join us for a free Rain Barrel Demonstration and Installation on Saturday, January 17th from 10 am to 2 pm at the Fremont Community Garden, 14th and Q Streets, Sacramento.  At this event you will learn about rain barrels, how to install them, help affix gutters, prepare the site for the barrels and assist with other gardening tasks.  This Rain Barrel Demonstration and Installation project is taught in partnership with the City of Sacramento, Department of Parks and Recreation Community Garden Program and Java City.  This event is free, but reservations are required due to limited space.  For more information, contact:  William Maynard at wmaynard@cityofsacramento.org
