Scooter’s Clean Air Fun Fest is slated to feature bike-centric exhibits and live entertainment.

  • Set Up – Setting up vendor booths (tents, tables, chairs), roping off areas with caution tape.
  •  During the event – Manning some of the vendor booths, passing out water, taking care of trash, other basic help
  • Tear down – Taking down the vendor booths, basic clean up

“This year, local business owners, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, parents and bike enthusiasts are coming together to help raise awareness of the negative health effects that poor air quality brings to residents in Sacramento and the surrounding area,” stated Lori Kobza, communications specialist with the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District. “It is important for each person to know that their individual actions and choices to help Spare The Air play a major role in helping to reduce air pollution because we all share the air.”

Scooter, the Spare The Air mascot, and his mascot friends such as Dinger, Jelly Belly, and others will be there along with residents throughout the Sacramento region to bring awareness to the 19th Spare The Air season, which runs from May through October. The free fun fest and bike expo will feature a celebrity host, BMX bike team performance, bike safety demonstrations, helmet fittings, live DJ as well as numerous organizations and businesses that cater to bicycles, families, pets, and the environment. The first 300 people who attend the event will receive a free goodie bag, and there will be raffles and prize giveaways throughout the day.

The Spare The Air program focuses on educating the general public about air quality issues to increase awareness and encourage residents to take action to reduce air pollution. With vehicle emissions being the primary source of summer air pollution in the Sacramento area, driving less and forming air friendly habits in daily life will help to improve our air. Anyone can help reduce air pollution and each effort can go a long way in helping high risks groups such as, the elderly, kids, pregnant women, and those with respiratory disease breathe just a little easier.
