Garden Make Over - Colonia San Martin
PLOT YOURSELF IN OUR GARDEN!
Nature plays an important role in physical, social/emotional, and cognitive well-being. Many people across America have experienced the impact of isolation. Residents of Mercy Housing California (MHC) are especially vulnerable members of our community, as many have experienced homelessness and income loss before the pandemic.
As we ease into in-person programming and meetings, your family or small group can help residents at one of MHC's properties, Colonia San Martin, attain the resources and extra hands needed for a Garden Project. This is an enrichment opportunity designed to promote healthy eating and encourage outdoor exercise for residents in the Sacramento community.
Volunteers are needed to ready the garden for the season, so we will tackle everything from weeding and trash pickup.
Date: Wednesday, July 7th
Time: 8 a.m. - 10 a.m. Volunteers Needed: 1-10 people (This is a great family or small group volunteer opportunity). We will practice safe social distancing protocol and we ask volunteers to wear sturdy shoes.
Mercy Housing California at Colonia San Martin is an affordable housing community serving 60 low-income apartments and townhomes in Sacramento, California
