Lifesaving Blood Mission - COVID-19 (Tuolumne, San Joaquin, Stanislaus Counties)

Did you know the American Red Cross is responsible for about 40% of the nation’s blood supply? Each year 4.5 million lives are saved by blood transfusions; approximately every 2 seconds. Your help is needed! COVID-19 has temporarily disrupted normal life in many communities, but the need for blood hasn’t changed. The American Red Cross has implemented several enhanced blood donations protocols in the interest of safety, and there is an urgent and critical need for volunteers to support these protocols. A new volunteer opportunity, Blood Donor Screener, will help pre-screen blood donors entering drives or donation centers. Red Cross is seeking individuals to fulfill this volunteer role immediately. To learn more and to sign up, visit RedCross.org/Volunteer. ***When considering volunteering, please review the risk guidance provided by the CDC, local government and your healthcare provider. The blood center in Sonora is in desperate need of volunteers. There is additional need all over the valley throughout San Joaquin and Stanislaus Counties. This position would be perfect for college students wanting to learn more about how the blood donation process works or who just want to help.
