Social Media and Communications Internship

The Social Media and Communications Intern or Volunteer assists with and coordinates social media as well as a variety of communications and marketing tasks for the City of Sacramento Volunteer Program. This position will offer an intern or volunteer the opportunity to experience city government while working on a variety of topics that directly impact the community and to utilize their marketing and communications skills. Skills needed: knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), graphic design skills, concise and creative writing skills, ability to self-motivate, communications skills, and Microsoft Office Suite. Communications, public relations, marketing or journalism experience preferred. Some photography and video experience a plus. Duties: manage and engage in a variety of social media platforms, draft schedule of content, analyze and track impressions, support relevant community influencers, research social media trends and innovations, participate in the production of content for marketing, create e-newsletters, create flyers and other promotional materials, serve as brand ambassador, help plan events, assist with updating Youth Volunteer Directory and other duties as assigned. Hours needed: 8-12 per week, unpaid, flexible work, on and off-site. Questions?
