Family Volunteer Day at City of Refuge
Join us on Saturday, Nov. 23 and spend time with your family! Family Volunteer Day is a global day of service that celebrates the power of families who work together to support their communities and neighborhoods.
Volunteers will meet at the City of Refuge main office in Oak Park:
3216 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95817
At that time, volunteers will receive instructions, coffee, water, juice and donuts and then we will go to the shelter and get to work!
This project will benefit City of Refuge Sacramento, a nonprofit organization based in Oak Park. Its mission is to support people living in marginalized communities of Sacramento, and to empower their ability to create a personal transformation that will lead to a healthy, thriving community.
City of Refuge is refurbishing a home/shelter in and volunteers will be completing the final touches before the families move in after Thanksgiving.
Here are some of the tasks that volunteers will be accomplishing on November 23rd:
1. Paint four bedrooms.
2. Paint one hallway
3. Paint a bathroom
4. Assemble IKEA bunk beds (we are told these would be easy to assemble) 😊
5. Put up new curtains
6. Decorate downstairs and outside of house for the holidays (kid friendly)
7. Paint words of friendship and encouragement on rocks to place around garden (kid friendly)
8. Plant winter vegetables in garden boxes (kid friendly)
9. Change out and install new locks on bedroom doors.
Powered by generationOn, the youth division of Points of Light, and sponsored by The Walt Disney Company, it’s a great way to be inspired by the power of helping others. It’s an amazing day to bring your family together to make your mark on the world. Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity!
