Sacramento VOAD Animals in Disasters Summit 2019

Planning for the rescue, care, sheltering, and reunification of pets, our "other" family members, animals large and small

Sacramento Region Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) in collaboration with the Sacramento County Office of Emergency Services, the American Red Cross Gold Country, Sacramento SPCA, and Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services proudly presented a half-day summit to take the first steps in the coordination of animal rescue, care, sheltering and reunification in the event of a regional disaster or public emergency.

More than 67 agencies and organizations from ten counties were in attendence. Panel discussions covered pet rescue, response, sheltering, reunification and recovery. Our keynote speaker was Grant Miller, DVM State Coordinator, California Veterinary Medical Reserve Corps.

Lynn Pesely, President, Sacramento Region Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD)
