Volunteers are needed to support Sacramento Self Help Housing [SSHH] in ongoing efforts to house those living in society’s fringes. Volunteers will be based at SSHH home office working the phones and lending support to the housing counselors. This involves researching potential housing opportunities at market rate, as well as assisting qualified clients in placing their names on various waiting lists for affordable and subsidized housing. Volunteers may also be asked to update our housing database.
Sacramento Self Help Housing is expanding its volunteer pool. We recognize the value of volunteerism from both sides—the support it offers our staff in carrying out our mission statement “to assist individuals and families who have insufficient resources… who are homeless, in crisis, and have special needs, to find stable and affordable housing,” and the value and purpose it can potentially provide volunteers doing good work.
All volunteers and staff work hand-in-hand to provide valuable and compassionate services to the homeless population we work with—to assist in improving their lives whenever possible. See our website at www.sacselfhelp.org .
