Outreach Specialist

How would you like to honor the men and women who have served in our military by meeting with and assisting veterans and their families as part of a specialized outreach program?

The Sacramento Public Library, in partnership with California Department of Veterans Affairs, has a program, Veterans Connect @ the Library, that enables veterans and their family members to receive information and resources associated with the benefits and services for which they are eligible.

As a volunteer outreach specialist you will be part of a team that will be deployed to a specific library (there are 28 libraries in Sacramento) where you’ll set up a table with information and where you will be able to speak to veterans about VA benefits as well as library resources.

We are seeking people who are interested in assisting veterans and their families and who enjoy meeting and talking with people. For the outreach team to be successful you need to commit to volunteering at least 4 hours once a month, for six months, provide your own transportation and attend an orientation and training on Thursday, June 8, from 3:30 to 5:30 at the Rancho Cordova Library.

Please plan to join us at the June 8th orientation so that you can learn more about the Veterans Connect @ the Library program and how you can support and give back to a veteran.

We encourage veterans to consider this volunteer opportunity, however, being a veteran is not a requirement. The only requirement is a willingness to learn and to share what you've learned with a veteran.
The opportunity date and time you are looking for is no longer available.
