Volunteer to Inspire Young People
Spend some time with the bright minds of tomorrow!
Volunteer and spend time with children from the Roberts Family Development Center, at the Twin Rivers Housing Complex. You will have the opportunity to share your experiences and knowledge by simply spending time and making a personal connection. This lets the child know that he or she is important in this big world and that there are places out there to be experienced.
The center normally serves children Pre K – 7th grade. The kids are normally broken down into the following groups for activities: K –2nd Grade 3rd, 4th, 5th Grade 6th and 7th Grade
Normal Schedule (not always followed): 3:15 - 3:30p: Kids Arrive 3:30p – 4p: Snack/ Getting to know the kids 4p – 5p: Homework Help/ Learning Games 5p – 6p: Extracurricular Activities
You will be helping out the kids with homework directly after snack is over and then be assigned to an age group to assist the team lead during the learning and extracurricular activities. There will always be staff on hand to help with any questions that you might have.
The center is wheelchair accessible and all people, abilities and skills are encouraged to volunteer. Bring a water bottle or something to drink; there isn’t a drinking fountain.
