COMMUNITYWORKS

Overview

CommunityWorks projects are designed and managed through the collaboration of a project leader (PL), Hands On Sacramento, and a nonprofit agency.  It’s a great opportunity to cultivate leadership, have fun, and make a difference.

HOS will work with potential project leaders to find or design a meaningful, high-impact, engaging project, and develop a partnership with a nonprofit agency that can help.  These projects are exciting and completed in one session (done-in-a-day!), and we encourage creativity.

The project leader will oversee the project, which is hosted by the agency under the auspices of HOS.  Basically, we train, PL’s lead, agencies assist, and together, we improve our communities.

All CommunityWorks projects are advertised on our online calendar

For these projects, HOS is responsible for:

·     Collaborating with the project leader to create a dynamic project or matching the project leader with an existing project they want to lead

·     Locating a suitable nonprofit agency to coordinate with the project leader

·     Facilitating communication between the project leader and the agency

·     Training the project leader

The Agency is responsible for:

·     Co-designing necessary parts of the project

·     Working with the project leader to oversee the project

·     Helping to provide necessary tools or supplies

·     Introducing the agency and its mission

·     Assisting in orientation and training

·     Having a representative present during the entire project

The Project Leader is responsible for:

·     Co-designing the project if necessary

·     Communicating information between the agency, HOS staff and volunteers

·     Managing project sign-ups, waivers and attendance

·     Leading and encouraging the volunteers

·     Supervising orientation and facilitating reflection activities

·     Ensuring that volunteers have an enjoyable, meaningful and rewarding experience

·     Reporting to HOS regarding volunteer attendance, successes and challenges

All CommunityWorks Projects must meet these requirements.
